The Basic Crop Inspection Training to COR Standards provides basic level training to develop skills required for inspecting and reporting on the management of an organic crop operations according to a specified set of standards. For courses conducted in Canada, the standard is CAN/CGSB-32.310-2020 and Permitted Substance Lists CAN/CGSB-32.311-2020.

IOIA and JOIA will cosponsor a 5-day Basic Organic Processing Inspection Training using JAS Standards as a reference. The course will be held online August 21 & 28 and in-person September 9 to 11, 2026, at Tokyo Metropolitan Industrial Trade Center. The training language will be Japanese. The course includes a field trip to a processing facility with a mock inspection, as well as a written exam. The IOIA trainer will be Mutsumi Sakuyoshi and other Japanese trainer(s). (Participants can choose between Kobe or Soka). The training language will be Japanese. The course includes a field trip to a farm with a mock inspection, as well as a written exam. Two advanced courses — Mass Balance and ISO 17065 — to be delivered live online for organic inspectors and certification professionals in Korean language.

The trainings cover two subjects, each delivered as a one-day live online course:
Understanding Mass Balance and Using the App — Friday, September 18, 2026
Applying ISO 17065 to Organic Certification — offered on three dates with identical content: Wednesday, October 14; Thursday, October 15; and Friday, October 16, 2026

The Mass Balance course explains the mass-balance principle that underpins credible organic and sustainability claims along the supply chain, with hands-on practice using a dedicated calculation app. 

The ISO 17065 course shows how the international standard for product-certification bodies applies in day-to-day organic certification work. Because the three ISO 17065 sessions are identical, participants register for the single date most convenient for them.

Conducted fully online via live video (Zoom), including small-group practice in breakout rooms. Each session is limited to 20 participants and filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Participants are assessed using the official IOIA Exam Form at the end of each course, and those scoring 80% or higher receive an official IOIA certificate of completion.

The trainings are led by Isidor Yu (Yu Byeong Deok), who has served as an IOIA Lead Trainer since 2008 and is a member of the IOIA Asia-Pacific Committee (APC).
